Senior Manager

Los Angeles, CA

Senior Manager will manage and deliver large, complex client engagements that identify, design, and implement creative business solutions for our clients and is expected to contribute to the business growth and development in a variety of ways, including:

• Business Development: develop and maintain contact with decision makers at key clients, organize and lead pursuit teams, lead aspects of the proposal development process & contribute to proposal pricing strategy.
• Practice Development & Eminence: develop solutions and methodologies, develop point-of-view documents, public speaking and publication in industry periodicals.
• People Development: perform role of counselor and coach, provide input and guidance into the staffing process, and actively participate in staff recruitment and retention activities.
• Engagement Management: manage engagement risk, project economics including planning and budgeting, manage accounts receivable, define deliverable content & ensure buy-in of proposed solutions from top management levels at the client.

Consulting activities will include:

Presentations and Business Development
• Prepare client reports including exhibits and summaries that provide insight to clients and are focused on business solutions
• Lead, participate and present at client meetings
• Lead and participate in marketing initiatives including writing proposals and conducting surveys
• Research and prepare speeches for internal and external presentation

Lead Daily Staff Activities
• Preparation of employee benefit program diagnostic and financial impact studies
• Preparation of managed care plan design and pricing analyses
• Evaluation and summarization of data sets, including claims for self-insured programs
• Assistance with vendor selection initiatives, including preparation of RFPs, coordinating with vendors and evaluating responses
• Preparation of employee benefit plan financial projections and COBRA rate development
• Review of health plan performance, including reviewing and negotiating policy year settlements and premium rate/administrative fee vendor renewals
• Market research and findings
• Other general health & welfare consulting activities, as required

Other
• Participate in broader consulting projects including redesign, cost reduction, mergers & acquisitions, shared administrative services, and other transformational business events
• In addition to serving plan sponsors, other project work can include working with payers and providers in such projects as HMO risk and value analysis, provider network development, operational reviews, etc.

15+ years of related consulting experience with a national consulting firm including ability to work on multiple projects, experience writing proposals and participating in business development activities, ability to work well with others in a team environment, self-motivated and able to work with little direct supervision, strong written, verbal and quantitative skills and attention to detail. 25% or less travel will be required.

Salary: 150K to 200K (based upon experience, knowledge & education) + bonus eligible up to 25%


Manager

Manager will assist senior management in providing strategic and technical employee benefit consulting services to plan sponsors (e.g., employers, municipal governments, health & welfare funds, etc.) including:
• Conduct employee benefits diagnostic/planning studies
• Prepare managed care plan design and pricing studies
• Manage/conduct competitive vendor search and selection initiatives
• Prepare financial projections and COBRA rate development
• Review health plan performance, including reviewing and negotiating policy year settlements and premium rate/administrative fee renewals
• Prepare client presentations and reports
• Conduct other general health & welfare consulting activities, as required, including working with payers and providers in such projects as HMO risk and value analysis, provider network development, operational claim reviews, etc.

5+ years of related consulting experience with a national consulting firm including technical background in underwriting and other areas of health care finance, strong understanding of health care plan design and alternative delivery systems, including consumer directed health plans with HRAs and HSAs, knowledge (plan design and pricing) of other health & welfare benefit plans (e.g., life, disability, dental, etc.), strong client presence, ability to work well in team-based environment, project management, presentation, and facilitation skills, well-organized with the ability to handle several projects/clients simultaneously, well-developed verbal and written communication skills, proficiency with MS Office products, including Word, Excel, PowerPoint, ability to work independently and develop client relationships and strong work ethic with a commitment to client service excellence. 25% or less travel will be required.

Salary: 100K to 150K (based upon experience, knowledge & education) + bonus eligible up to 20%


Senior Vice President

Senior Vice President has consulting and operational responsibility with accountability for managing a major business unit and a significant volume of clients and revenue.

Primary responsibilities of this position include growth and maintenance of business through specific account management responsibilities, as either the primary consultant or account manager for major clients. Specifically will have responsibility to retain and grow business by acting as the lead manager for five (or more) clients with a strategic client focus; and/or serving as an account manager for multiple clients with 3+ lines of business. H&W practice leader responsibilities at either a local or regional level. In addition, individual may be responsible for chairing a National Practice Council. Possess expertise that is widely recognized by colleagues regionally, as well as nationally and clients that (will in most instances) span multiple lines of service. Encourage and cultivate enhanced business opportunities with existing and potential clients through representation of total portfolio of consulting products and services. Participate in cross-selling and interdependent business development opportunities. Will also involve other professionals across geographic, functional and business units to develop and provide responses to opportunities for business growth. Proactively pursue additional business opportunities both within existing client base as well as with new clients. Expected 10%-30% annual growth in total book of business. Responsibility for the establishment of strategic plans for the client that are consistent with business plan/strategy, will develop and cultivate strategic business relationships with senior level executives within the client organization, and manage stewardship meetings. Overall management of the project team including the establishment of roles, responsibilities and performance expectations for team, ensure team has an understanding of client needs as well as the economic framework for the work to be provided, and will modify team composition as required.

15+ years of Health & Welfare consulting firm experience including ability to work on multiple projects, writing proposals, participating in business development activities, ability to work well with others in a team environment, self-motivated and able to work with little direct supervision, strong written, verbal and quantitative skills and attention to detail, Bachelor’s Degree, M.B.A. (preferred), License or Certificate Requirements: Appropriate Insurance License/Life and Health CEBS certification (or equivalent).

Salary: 175K to 225K (based upon experience, knowledge & education)


Senior Consulting Manager

Dallas, TX
